As a member of our marketing committee you will use your creative mind to bring the mission and vision of our rescue to life! This role works collaboratively across multiple other committees to help get animals adopted, raise money, educate the community, and keep the community engaged with FHI activities. Our marketing team handles everything communications, content development, graphic design, photography, videography, and more, so there are endless ways to make an impact!
Typical Hours: 20-30 per month
The more volunteers, the fewer hours necessary as duties can be shared
Who You Are:
An animal lover who wants to contribute your time and talents to a worthy cause – making the lives of animals and their owners better!
Strong communicator and/or graphic designer who understands how to turn concepts into both well crafted words and appealing designs. If you’re better at one over the other (i.e. a great writer, but minimal graphic design skills) that’s okay, too. That’s the power of a well-rounded committee!
Comfortable working with graphic design programs such as Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, or similar to create visually engaging promotional materials.
Collaborative individual who’s comfortable taking direction from a variety of sources to determine the best course of action.
Organized, dependable, and knows the importance of deadlines.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Write, design, and edit social media posts for all platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter).
Create and edit designs, concepts, messaging, and creative materials for use across platforms (i.e. social media, website, email, print, etc.).
Take photos and video of our rescue animals to help promote FHI and get animals adopted.
Work with our events committee to promote fundraising, educational, and community events.
Write adoption profiles for adoptable animals as necessary.
Work collaboratively with other committee members to brainstorm, support, and lead creative direction, branding, and messaging to ensure brand integrity.
Qualifications & Training:
Must have access to and ability to use graphic design programs such as Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, or similar design programs.
Must have access to a computer and internet in order to use all of the necessary marketing platforms.
Must be able to visit the facility at least once per month to capture video and/or photos for promotional purposes. No professional equipment is needed, although we won’t turn it away! A smart phone will be sufficient for most needs.
You will receive virtual training with a member of our current marketing committee to familiarize you with FHI brand standards, our website, social media platforms, email platform, team communications, etc.
Any promotional materials, social media posts, etc. will be reviewed for the first month to ensure brand integrity.
